The Sinoe County Local Government, under the leadership of Hon. Alexander Nah Sleweon, in partnership with the Greenville City Corporation (GCC), has officially launched the Greenville Clean Campaign with the distribution of 111 (25kg) bags of rice to sixteen community leaders across the city.
The gesture is intended to support the commencement of cleaning activities within their respective communities.
Speaking at the turnover ceremony, Hon. Sleweon emphasized that maintaining a clean and healthy environment is a shared responsibility.
He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting community-based sanitation efforts and expressed gratitude to Hummingbird Resources Liberia Limited, the Sinoe Business Community, and other partners for their continued support.
The distribution breakdown is as follows:
1. Sinoe Local Government – 56 (25kg) bags of rice
2. Hummingbird Resources Liberia Limited – 40 (25kg) bags of rice
3. Sinoe Business Association – 15 (25kg) bags of rice
Representing the City Mayor of Greenville, Mr. Benny Williams commended the Local Government for its leadership and pledged the GCC’s full cooperation with community leaders to ensure the cleanliness and safety of all streets within Greenville.
Also in attendance was the Vice President for Administration of the Sinoe Youth Association, Mr. Ransford Biah, who lauded the Local Government for the initiative. He assured that the Association remains committed to collaborating with the GCC and community leaders to make Greenville a cleaner and healthier city.
The Chairperson of the Sixteen Community Leadership, Mr. Sackor Tweh Sackor, encouraged community members to use the rice for its intended purpose. He further cautioned that penalties will be imposed on anyone found misusing items meant to support the campaign.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of all community leaders, Mr. Sackor extended appreciation to the Local Government, noting that the support demonstrates genuine partnership in improving community sanitation. He reaffirmed their commitment to mobilizing residents, strengthening neighborhood-level cleanup efforts, and ensuring that Greenville becomes one of the cleanest cities in Liberia.
Mr. Bajibo also praised the Office of the Superintendent for continuously identifying community needs and introducing programs that reinforce collective efforts to keep Greenville clean.
